Impact Begins With You
Promoting Workers’ Rights
Our team is committed to promoting safe and productive work environments in the Heartland. We advocate for and promote workers’ rights and responsibilities to create a culture of safety and respect in every workplace.
Our Health and Safety Institute (HSTI) works to ensure that employers and their employees fully understand regulations while developing the knowledge and skills they need to be safe where they work.
Fostering A Culture Of Civic Engagement in Nebraska
HWC increases underrepresented participation in public life by providing opportunities to effectively advocate on issues important to their community at all levels of government. We want to make sure citizens engage in the electoral process using their vote, and that all Nebraska residents understand their forms of power to connect with institutions in their communities to effect change.
Leadership Development
We find, train, and develop leaders so they can move from spectators to actors in their own lives, advocating for their interests and engaging publicly with others to build collective power for change. We build core teams of leaders who work together collectively to negotiate the actions they will take to address issues within their neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities.
Building Power for All
Heartland Workers Center works in the Omaha Metro Area, Nebraska City, Columbus, Schuyler, Fremont, and West Point to engage and activate historically underrepresented voices.
